Kavita Rasik Mandali (Karam) Institute Pune, under the leadership of Mr. Bhushan Katakkar, has been at the forefront of organizing events, to appreciate and facilitated individuals and organizations for being involved and contributing to social work among other socioeconomic affairs.
On the 4th of Feb. 2019, they organized an event at Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad Pune, for facilitating social workers from different areas. I was privileged to be among the participants as we got facilitated by Mrs. Medha Kulkarni, a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kothrud area, Pune.
The MLA congratulated me for my contribution towards researching, contributing, and advocating for the transgender community. She noted that transgender issues are serious matters which have been overlooked by society, and the fact that I was a woman researching and dealing in such a topic was a great achievement. The event organizers and the MLA showed interest to learn more about my research.
There is hope for the transgender community as we see organizations, individuals, and our leaders show interest in issues related to gender matters.
